Canaan Mountain Wilderness is a wilderness area in southern Utah. It was designated Wilderness as part of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009. Canaan Mountain is the namesake of the wilderness. It is a large promontory surrounded on three sides by the 2,000-foot high White Cliffs composed of Navajo Sandstone. The 500-foot Vermilion Cliffs, composed of the Moenave Formation, lie at the base of the White Cliffs
